Prayer Update 487
Proverbs4Prayer
Proverbs 3:29 “Do not plan harm against
your neighbour who lives trustingly beside you.”
Trust is
something we do not talk about a lot, but it is one of the foundations of a
good society. Trust is extremely
important amongst people who live together, work together, fellowship together,
and so on. In the family, in our
neighbourhood, where we work, where we go to church and so on, trust is of
fundamental importance. To betray that
trust can destroy relationships, build suspicion and even hatred, where there
should be love. Employers should trust
their employees, and vice versa.
Husbands and wives, parents and children, fellow Christians, should be
able to trust one another. Pray that
trust will be held in “high honour” by people.
Pray for situations you are aware of where trust has been betrayed; even
in high places like the trust between Government and people.
FAMILY VIOLENCE
At least
41 deaths in New Zealand last year were due to family violence. Family violence in this case is defined as
violence inflicted on a person (baby, infant, child, young person or adult) by
someone in their immediate family or in close relationship with the person
killed. This is a shocking
statistic! Again, the more we, as a
nation, reject God’s ways, the more people will suffer and the nation will suffer. Sexual immorality, de facto relationships,
broken homes, adultery, absent fathers, plus alcohol and drugs, all combine to
encourage family violence. People talk
so much about love but there is so much hatred in our society. Pray that the Government, and we as the
people of this country, will do all we can to discourage all those things which
contribute to family violence. Pray also
for a new outpouring of God’s Spirit that will transform people’s lives so that
hatred and violence are replaced by God’s love for one another and above all,
for Him.
INTERNET EVANGELISM
Three
weeks ago I mentioned about use of the internet to share the Gospel. One person emailed me and said: “I’d appreciate your prayers for a new
mission field in Facebook – it’s
called ‘The Bible’ http://journeydeeperin2godsword.wordpress.com/
The Bible page founded by Rev. Mark Brown (of the Bible Society) – www.facebook.com/MarkBrown.page
There seem to be as many non-believers on it – trying to rock and mock
Christians, sometimes with quite lewd comments – and Christians are often
getting offended and judgemental in reply (!!) – but
it is a real opportunity to reach these lost ones. I’m finding it quite a blessing to speak into
lives in this way.” Please pray for this
and all internet use for the spread of the Gospel to all people, everywhere,
throughout the world.
EASTER SOLEMN ASSEMBLY:
Wellington
Adrian Watts
is organising another Solemn Assembly, in Wellington, over Easter. The theme of this Solemn Assembly is Government. He writes:
The
Church
I came across this Derek Prince quote recently: "If the
prayers for the church fail, then the prayers for the government will also
fail." I had to think about that
but then I realised that the church is God's primary instrument for reformation
in a land. If the church fails, then
there is no instrument available to bring the necessary revelation of God's
standard of righteousness to the political government in the land. The church is meant to be founded upon
apostles and prophets. If we pray for,
and work towards, a restoration of apostolic doctrine, structure and operation
in the church, then we will also see a restoration of prophetic ministry in our
nation. Currently much of what we term
"church" has moved from the foundational structure and as a result it
has lost its prophetic voice. We need a
restoration of God's order of government in the church in New Zealand.
Political Government
We saw a change of
government at the last election but now we need to see a change in government; that is, the hearts
and minds of governmental leaders changed to align with righteous
principles. With the removal of the
Labour Party from power, the flood of new unrighteous, immoral legislation
ceased. But the National Party is
currently a conservative party not a reforming one. To see righteous reformation come about in our
nation, there will need to be someone to play that role. At the moment there this
something of a vacuum in the political arena. What is going to fill the vacuum? We need to see a spiritual transformation of
KEY leaders in order to bring this about. John Key is a "key" man and a key
can be used to open and shut doors. But
we need to realise that the key in itself is powerless – it needs a hand to
pick it up and use it. The prayers of
God's people are meant to activate the Hand of God so that John Key and his
team become an instrument of reformation in our land.
Committed prayer
warriors are invited to Wellington to take up this challenge – the restoration
of government in the Church and in the land.
Please see http://web.mac.com/trumpetcall/iWeb/Site/Easter%202010.html
for further details. Please also pray
for this Solemn Assembly and come if you can.
