Prayer Update 599
THE BLESSINGS OF OBEDIENCE
The Lord, through Moses, promised the Israelites that if they obeyed Him, they would be the head and not the tail; they would be at the top and not the bottom.
“The Lord will establish you as His holy people, as He promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to Him. Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you.
The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity – in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground – in the land He swore to your ancestors to give you.
The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of His bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.
The Lord will make you the head, not the tail.
If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.
Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.” – Deuteronomy 28:9-14.
Praise God for all His promises to us if we will obey Him and walk in His ways. Personally, and as a Church and a nation, God will bring blessings to those who are obedient, but will bring judgement to those who rebel and disobey. Pray that we – individually, the Church and the nation – will be blessed by our obedience instead of suffering for our disobedience.
POLICE CHRISTIAN SUPPORT NETWORK
The Police Christian Support Network is planning a “Priority One” Conference in Wellington in September, for Christian Police staff and their spouses. About 120 people are expected to attend. This event, which runs annually, is designed to provide support and encouragement for those in the force and their families. Too many good police officers burn out when, with the right support, they could keep serving the community. There will be speakers and workshops at the conference to equip staff with tools to cope with workplace stresses and how to balance faith, work and home life. Please pray for this conference; for the organising committee; for Will Beard who is chairing the committee, and for all those who will attend. Pray for our Police Force and for Christians in the Police Force. Praise God for all those men and women who help to make our country a safe place to live; to reduce crime and to enforce the Law for the good of our people. Their job is not an easy one; they don’t always get it right and the media often seeks to expose injustices or errors which are made. But praise God for those who do a good job in seeking to preserve the peace and decency, law and order, in our country. For further details see www.pcsn.org.nz and the video http://vimeo.com/41008446
ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER
It is so important that, as Christians, we seek to encourage one another and build one another up in the Faith. There is plenty of discouragement in the world, but we can strengthen and help one another by our love, encouragement, prayer and practical support. Please pray for Christians who are struggling with their faith, temptation, disappointment or discouragement, fears, pressures and so on.
PRAYER, INTERCESSION & SPIRITUAL WARFARE CONFERENCE
A conference on Prayer, Intercession and Spiritual Warfare, jointly hosted by Intercessors for New Zealand and Jubilee Resources International is planned for Labour Weekend, Friday 19 to Monday 22 October at Forest Lakes Christian Camp, just north of Otaki. Please pray for the plans being made for this weekend, for those who are organising the weekend and those who will attend. This is a preliminary notice and request for prayer – more details will be sent shortly.
